Developed by the Department of Social Service at Oxford Brookes University (United Kingdom) for families with children between 10 and 14 years old and culturally adapted to Brazil, the Strong Families Program (PFF) aims at the well-being of family members through strengthening family bonds and the development of parental and socio-emotional skills. This objective is based on the fact that a positive relationship between family members creates favorable conditions for the good development of adolescents, and tends to keep them away from risky behaviors (such as the use of alcohol and other drugs, for example).
The content of the program is based on the premise that children do better in their social development when families are able to establish limits and rules of coexistence and to express affection and provide adequate support to children.
The PFF is recognized by UNODC as a program based on scientific evidence with proven preventive potential and recognized by important international bodies such as Blueprints on Prevention.
